As posted earliert this month, Charles Labbe' and The Church Point Louisiana Housing Authority kicked off their tribute music series. This initial tribute was an opportunity to pay it forward to the members of the popular band out of Church Point, "The Swinging 7."
The community was invited to come out and enjoy this free event and all food and drink sales were donated to the local St Judes Children's research Hospital.Watching these gentleman play with such pride and enthusiasm was more than one would wish for. I myself asked the question, "Where have these guys been?"
Original band leader Al Willams stole the show, however he could not have done it with the talent supported by that band.
WHAT A SHOW.!!!!
This series will continue. I ask that you guys keep your eyes and ears open. Church Point Louisiana has seven of Louisiana's best kept secrets and they are swinging. Horns, bass, vocals, and all.
The evenings performance got started with one of Louisiana's most enthusiastic Cajun bands "Je Connais Pas" and when I tell you the fiddle and accordion players showed their tale feathers.
Not only is this a great opportunity for the talent but it is also an opportunity for local residents and businesses to connect and makees this town shine the light that eluminates in Louisianas Acadia Parish.
